You Say Flamingo; I Say Flamenco

It is common for people to mispronounce "flamenco" as "flamingo". That fact is what inspired this piece. When you turn the crank (not visible here), she does a "zapateado." The sound comes from her feet and from a castanet inside the box. Getting the mechanisms to run smoothly required many re-do's and adjustments. She originally wore a red satin, flouncy skirt, but it overwhelmed the sculpture.
